Questions after a recent broadcast about an escortservice

Frequently asked questions following a broadcast about an escortservice

Recently, an escortservice was featured in the news during a broadcast of a popular program. As a result, we received many questions, especially from potential escort applicants. In this blog, we address recurring questions and highlight some important aspects.

Disclaimer: We do not pass judgment on the practices of the other escortservice, as we are simply not fully informed about their methods. However, we do criticize attack journalism; we find that lacking in integrity. It is understandable that an interview can be nerve‑wracking, but when you are confronted with difficult questions and contacted on your private number and under your private name, providing a well‑founded answer becomes especially challenging. Even if you manage to respond clearly, the question remains as to how this will ultimately be portrayed in the broadcast. Assuming that there is undoubtedly room for improvement, our sympathy extends to every hard‑working entrepreneur who acts in good faith and faces these challenges. But so far, our personal opinion.

Multiple interests and fairness

Before we proceed to answer the questions, it is important to realize that multiple parties are involved in a booking. Although in some respects the interests of all parties align, differences do exist. For example, a client does not want a booking to be canceled at short notice, especially if this means his hotel room can no longer be canceled free of charge, while an escort does not want to accept a booking if she does not feel well or needs to cancel for another reason. In addition to adhering to what is required, it is also important to consider what is fair. As a mediator, it is a challenge to balance the interests of the mediator, the client, and the escort. Open and respectful communication often plays a significant role in this.

Answer to frequently asked questions from potential escorts

Do you also work with opting‑in?

Yes, we work with opting‑in and consider it a pleasant basis. Although opting‑in is not perfect, it offers much more freedom than an employment relationship in which the employer decides what you do during work hours. You determine who, what, where, when, and how. In addition, you will not have to deal with the administrative burdens of freelancers registered with the Chamber of Commerce. We take care of much of the tax remittance and administrative processing. The disadvantages of opting‑in became particularly apparent during the pandemic, when sex workers with such an agreement were excluded from support packages. Additionally, you do not build up a pension and are not protected against unemployment or illness. You receive your compensation for the booking you complete. If you cancel a booking due to, for example, illness, you will not receive compensation for that booking. Should you or the client suddenly need to terminate a booking early due to an unexpected emergency, we will simply consult with each other to find a solution that works for everyone.

Can I get a mortgage or rental contract?

Yes, but just like other self‑employed entrepreneurs or freelancers, you must have a track record showing that you have been earning income from sex work for some time. This is necessary to demonstrate that you can meet your financial obligations throughout the duration of a rental or mortgage contract. Sex work, like self‑employment, comes with certain uncertainties and may lead some landlords to exercise extra caution. They might provide a different reason, but in practice this is often due to prejudices and risk perceptions. We therefore advise you to inform potential landlords thoroughly so they can make a well‑considered decision. Keep in mind that discrimination based on professional choice is not permitted.

May I also do sex work elsewhere?

Yes, but you must inform us about it. In practice, it is rare for an escort from Society Service to work at multiple locations simultaneously, but in theory it is possible. There is a practical need to report this so that we can discuss together how to organize this combination in a pleasant and structured manner. This prevents misunderstandings and ensures that clear agreements can be made regarding integrity issues. For example when you charge different (lower) rates elsewhere. To safeguard our interests, good consultation is necessary to formulate an appropriate plan.

How does travel time and travel expenses work?

At Society Service, you decide how far you want to travel for bookings and for how many hours you want to be booked per travel distance. For bookings within your own region, travel expense are included in your compenation. When a booking is more than 25 kilometers away, you receive at least €50 in travel expenses and this allowance increases with greater distance. You choose your mode of transport: taxi, public transport, your own car, or even a bicycle if the weather permits. As long as you can travel safely and on time to and from the booking, everything is fine. The travel expenses compensation, just like any other possible surcharges, is entirely for you and therefore no mediation fee is deducted from it. You do pay the usual taxes on it.

Do I have to work a required number of hours per week?

No, there is no obligation whatsoever. The escorts of Society Service manage their own availability and can adjust it at any time. You do not need to be on standby continuously. Generally, you complete between 3 and 10 bookings per month, but this can vary. It is common for escorts to travel for extended periods; for this, you do not have to “request time off” as you decide entirely for yourself. There is also no fixed requirement regarding the duration of bookings. However, it must remain reasonable. We strive for a collaboration that is fruitful for both parties. A consistently very limited availability does not align with the intended service. Escorts decide for themselves how far they want to travel per booking and can also indicate if they are not available for bookings of a certain duration, but this too must align with our overall service. Our service mainly focuses on bookings lasting 2 to 20 hours. Someone who wishes to impose a maximum duration of 4 hours will not be a good match for our escortservice, whereas someone who is not available for international bookings or for bookings longer than an overnight stay is perfectly workable.

Am I automatically scheduled for multiple bookings?

No. For each booking, we ask for your explicit consent. You receive a request for a booking on a specific date and location, and you can indicate whether you accept it, and if so, specify the start and end times. At our high class escortservice, it is customary for bookings to be made a few days in advance. Since bookings generally last several hours - on average about 5 to 6 hours - it is very unusual to have multiple bookings in one day. On the rare occasion that this occurs, it is often the case that an overnight booking ends in the morning and you have another booking later in the day. But, as mentioned, you are always asked for your explicit consent beforehand.

Am I informed about the client in advance?

Yes. You receive information about both the booking and the client ahead of time. This way, you are not caught off guard, and bookings only include clients and services for which you have given explicit consent. For instance, you will know in advance if a client has a physical disability or is of an older age, allowing you to agree to these conditions. That said, an escort service is not a dating service, therefore, you will not receive a photo of the client beforehand to determine whether you find them attractive.

Are any sexual acts mandatory?

No. Intimacy and eroticism form an important part of the experience you offer as an escort, but what this specifically entails can vary per booking. No guarantees are made regarding specific sexual acts, as preferences may vary depending on the moment and the individual. The “Girlfriend Experience” serves as a guideline during a booking. If you feel that you cannot consistently offer this experience to clients who meet all the conditions, then our escortservice is not the right choice for you. There are no obligations, but there are expectations, that both the escort and the client do their best to establish a connection on an emotional, intellectual, and social level which then extends to the intimate and erotic.

Is oral sex without a condom offered at society service?

No. Safer sex means that the risk of sexually transmitted infections is minimized as much as possible. Unprotected oral sex does not fall within our policy. We maintain a strict policy regarding safer sex: oral sex on a penis (fellatio) is always performed with a condom. Even for an extra fee, this service is not offered. This policy is partly due to regulations for licensed escort services and the advice of the public health service, which indicates that the health risk associated with oral sex without a condom is too high. Each escort chooses which brands of condoms, lubricants, and other products they prefer and procures these independently. Naturally, there are some safety requirements in accordance with government hygiene guidelines. We provide a standard size and brand of condoms free of charge.

May I refuse a booking or client?

Yes. After each booking, we ask for feedback so that we can determine whether the client adhered to the agreements, whether the experience was pleasant, and whether you would like to see the client again. We take a proactive stance with clients when improvements are needed and refuse clients in cases of poor conduct, insufficient personal hygiene, or other insurmountable issues. Additionally, we do not accept every booking request; approximately one quarter of the requests are rejected because the client’s wishes, attitude, and expectations do not align with the values and possibilities within our company. You can refuse a booking or a client at any time and for any reason, but it is important to maintain dialogue and remain reasonable. The purpose of refusing is to protect your boundaries, not for cherry picking.

How does it work if you want to stop working as an escort?

You can stop at any time. You may decide to stop working as an escort at any moment, even with immediate effect. In an opting‑in arrangement, your mediator can also terminate the collaboration at any time, usually when there are persistent problems. In many cases, there are no costs associated with ending the collaboration. There are various reasons why an escort may stop working, such as enjoying it less, entering into a monogamous relationship, or being unable to combine it with other ambitions. This almost always happens in good consultation so that the conclusion of the collaboration can be completed in a pleasant manner. You are, however, expected to take responsibility and use our time and resources respectfully, and you should not expose our business to endless risk. We assume the risk in cases of illness and emergencies. But simply “not feeling like it” is not a risk we are willing to take. This applies both to new escorts who terminate the collaboration before their first booking, but after we have built a profile and paid for a photoshoot, and to situations where, for example, you cancel an international booking for which costs have been incurred, such as a flight. So yes, you can always stop working, just as you can always cancel or refuse a booking, though you may then share in the responsibility.
